First post so bear with me...we just bought a used Imac and found some history in the browser of porn surfing! Can I erase this off the browser and be safe or should I be concerned about the entire computer? Any suggestions would be great. I'm brand new to Macs.

It couldn't hurt to clean out the history/cache anyway regardless of what's on there. Better yet, I'd suggest that if the machine is a used one, you format it and re-install OS X (make sure to backup any of your own data first). If you don't want to do that, your browser of choice has the ability to clean out the history/cache:

1. Safari - Safari > Reset Safari...
2. Chrome - Chrome > Clear Browsing Data...
3. Opera - Tools > Delete Private Data...
4. Firefox - Tools > Clear Recent History...

G'day and welcome to the forums.

You lucky devil ~ why doesn't this happen to me?

Seriously whenever you get a pre-loved machine format the hard drive and do a clean install. Important you got the system discs with the machine. Who knows the former owner may have even been a spy?

OMG Porn ! The beasts ! Seriously, who cares. Everybody looks at porn. (well, I'll leave the 2% of those seriously disturbed enough to think that it's unclean and all that)

But I agree that the OS should be wiped and the HD reformatted. I wouldn't want the remnants of someone else lingering on my computer. Moreover, I'm anal retentive about cleanliness, so I'd likely take the time to open the iMac and vacuum it. You never know how people keep their things, at least that's how I think. If I ever bought used, I'd be really up front in asking if they have pets, if they smoke etc ..

HAHAH. sorry, this is too funny. at least the old owner wasnt a chronic smoker. You can easily delete history, but that smell never goes away.
