I have a macbook pro with OS 10.

When I open same .pdf files is not possible to read the text. (attached a picture)

What might be the problem?

What are you loading the PDF in? Preview? Adobe Reader?

Also which version of OS X? Tiger? Leopard? Snow Leopard?

Regards

Can you try Adobe Reader and see if you get the same result. Also, does the same corruption happen on every .PDF or only select ones?

Although Preview is quite a good PDF reader, you may experience some issues with it especially with PDFs that contain complex content. Adobe Reader will read any PDF so if it doesn't open in Preview, give Reader a try (this is assuming of course that the PDF isn't corrupted - Reader won't open those!).

Actually, Preview does well with most PDF content. I've used it to open documents that refused to display properly in Windows using the Foxit Reader. I've got several electronic manuals that contain detailed schematics and flow charts which Preview has no problem displaying.

I believe the OP may have some corrupt PDFs which lucky for him, Adobe Reader can open. BTW, Adobe Reader for Windows is the most bloated bit of garbage that Adobe has ever released. That's why I use the free Foxit Reader instead.

I'm with you on the bloat that is Adobe Reader but I guess I've had a different experience. I've had perfectly good PDFs work like a charm in Adobe Reader while Preview struggled with it (if it opened it at all). This generally only happens when the PDF has "advanced features" which isn't all that often but it's nice to have AR around for the few times it happens. ;)
