What would be the easiest way to use my Macbook Pro screen as a display for my server?

At the moment I don't have an external monitor, and I don't feel like buying one just to hook up once every 6 months. Remote desktop software works, but not for formatting/reinstalling OS's.

I'm guessing that some sort of external DVI capture card is the way to go, right? Any suggestions on a cheap solution? Resolution/refresh rate is not really a concern because I'll only be using it to do basic configuration changes on the server, no media or games or anything.

Thanks

The money you'll spend on a capture card and cables will probably cost more than a cheap 17" or 19" monitor sold at Best Buy or Wal-Mart.
