Hi there. I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I've been experiencing using Ableton Live. I've been using this software for a long time and recently started using it to perform live shows. Everything had been working fine until about a month ago when I started getting a 'The Disk was not ejected properly..' message which would stop playback and require a software restart to get it going again. This would happen at least once during each performance! (luckily mainly rehearsals!). Following this message I checked but no disk had been ejected, and this is the case every time it happens. I'm aware that this might well be a OS problem but I thought it best to post it here in the audio thread first.

This is what shows up in the OSX log
Apr 4 10:50:56 Simon-Jamess-MacBook fseventsd[45]: check_vol_last_mod_time:XXX failed to get mount time (25; &mount_time == 0x10047f8b8)

I also posted this in the Audio thread but I'm pretty sure this might be more of a OS problem.

It's a long shot but you could try repairing Disk and Disk Permissions.
To do this boot into your OS X dvd then go to Utilities > Disk Utility, click the First Aid tab, click your HDD in the left pane, click Repair Disk. Once done click Repair Disk Permissions. This could take a while so be patient with it. Once all is done you can reboot.

Is there a firmware update available for the drive or are you using the SD slot?

What make/model drive?

I recommend using you internal drive for live gigs. I know alot of people have vast music libraries on their externals, but the fact is they are far too unreliable when it comes to something in a live situation (anyone could knock it out or drop it.)

maybe try planning your sets in advance, choose the songs you are going to use, samples, clips and so on, transfer them to the internal.

if i have misunderstood, and you are already using the internal:

I would try Simon's trouble shoots first, and if that doesnt work,
you may have an issue with the hard drive, or maybe with the ribbon cable connecting the drive to the logic board.
