Menubar, Is there a way top hide it?

Is there a way to hide the menubar on top, like the dock hides?
I'm running 10.4.2

As far as I know, there is no hack that will allow you to do that.
Besides, it is more or less necessary for your apps, as it has all of the menu commands.

I understand that. I was just hoping to hide it like the Dock hides, till I need it
