I cannot figure out how to boot into ubuntu 10.10 (or earlier) from a USB stick for an intel imac duo core (v7.1). Unfortunately, my superdrive is dead, so I cannot boot from a CD or DVD.
I've tried refit. I've tried these directions ([other] Intel Mac (Mactel) FAQ - Ubuntu Forums) and these ([ubuntu] How to Install Ubuntu 9.04 on an Intel-based Mac laptop - Ubuntu Forums).
I can choose to boot from the USB stick, but I get the error message "No operating system" when I know there is an operating system on the USB stick. BTW, the drive is FAT32 formatted.
Do I need to "bless" the drive? If so, how?
Is there another way?
BTW: I'm not looking to use a VM. Thanks.
