I am a digital scrapbooker and have 5 EHD's(4 Iomega & one older Maxtor)
that are formatted for my dell laptop to see.(only has a 60GB HD)
Is my new iMac going to see them and can it both read and write to them or
am I going to have to empty one and reformat it for Mac? I think I read that
it can read them.
I have 4 Iomega drives bought between 2007-2010. Maxtor bought in 2004
Also one is a firewire or USB connection. Will the firewire plug on the iMac be the same?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)

As your EHD's have been setup for working on your Dell laptop I can safely assume that they are formatted as NTFS. Now Apple computers cannot natively write to NTFS they can only read. If you want to use them on both your iMac and Dell laptop then you either need to format them all to FAT32, or download a program like "Paragon NTFS for Mac" available from below link. It does cost $19.95 but you can try it first.

PARAGON Software Group - NTFS for Mac, communication channel between Mac OS X and Windows

Hope this helps,
