Hi,

I've just been given my mums old MacBook (2006). However she hasn't used it in years and has forgotten her password, she also has a firmware password :\.

Can anyone help? I have all the original setup disks and docs etc but can't find a way to either recover the password or to do a fresh install.

Thanks :)

She's going to have to come up with that firmware password or it's just a dead machine.

You can give this procedure a try to get around the firmware password. However, there is no guaranty that it will work:

Note that the above method requires opening the bottom of your MacBook and removing one of the memory modules. Make sure you're careful when doing so. If you need instructions on how... do a Google search. It's very easy to do so you may not need any instructions.
