I have an intel imac 27" which is quickly becoming obsolete for gaming, the hardware (especially the graphics card) is running newer games terribly. I was wondering if I purchase a desktop PC for gaming would I be able to use the iMac as a monitor?

e-Bay or Craig's List. If you go the e-Bay route...hopefully you kept your original box (for shipping).:)

One additional thought. Using a 27" iMac as an external monitor for a gaming Windows computer is pretty darn expensive monitor!

Sure...the 27" Apple Cinema display costs $999 (an expensive monitor)...but I would think you would be much better off selling your 27" iMac for $800-$1200 (depending on the exact model)...and then buying a "normal" 24"-27" monitor for your gaming Windows computer ($250-$350).

Of course also remembering that the resolution on a 27" iMac is greater (2560 x 1440) than almost any 27" monitor on the market (usually 1920 x 1080).

HTH,

- Nick

p.s. But...if you used your 27" iMac as a monitor for a Windows gaming computer...you would still have the 27" iMac to do "Macintosh Stuff" when you wanted to.:)

What would I need to plug in an external:

TV Tuner
Blu-Ray
PS3

The 27" iMac monitor is just so dammed sweet to run just apps on it.
