How to fix my mac finder?

I was importing jpg screen caps from a movie to my desktop then my mac ran out of memory so the finder froze but I can use other applications except using the finder…reformatting my mac is the last thing i wanna do…i was wondering about accessing my desktop to delete the jpgs in another mac but my friend said it can’t be done. I already deleted 3 apps and got 3gb free but my finder is still frozen…I deleted them by relaunching my finder which I get approx 3 sec to enter the finder to delete apps then it will freeze again. =(
