I just upgraded the RAM on my Mid 2010 Macbook Pro from 4gb to 8gb. I was going to give the 4gb to a friend who had an older Macbook. It used DDR2 so that out of the gates wasn't going to work. My question is can any other Mac/PC use this RAM or is it completely specific to my computer? I noticed just punching in different Macbook Pros on Crucial the "DDR3 PC3" would be the same, but the numbers after differentiated. I hate to have the memory just sit around if someone else could use it.

Hold on to it as long as you own your current machine. You never know when you may need to test the memory that you now have in the machine. No better way to test memory then to substitute it with known good modules.
