Hello fellow Macheads,

I need a some advice for upgrading my Mac.

I have a Mac Pro (4-core) 1st Gen. - 2006-2007. I bought it with 512 MB of memory in 4 of the 8 slots. Crucial.com says the max per slot is 4096 MB per slot.

Should I put 4 more 512 MB in the open slots or should I get bigger chips?

Thanks for your time,

Toddiacho

Ram for Mac Pro's is not cheap. If installing 4 more 512meg sticks of ram (total of 4 gig of ram) will be enough...this would be the less expensive route. If you think you will need more ram in the near future...then maybe installing 1 gig sticks of ram would be better (just check the prices & see what works for you).
