Completely new to Macs and have got hold of a G4 (not with the intel CPU), this system does not have any operating system on it. Because I only want to try out this I don't really want to buy an Op system yet. I've downloaded Tiger 10.4 in various formats - dmg, toast, iso as DVD versions and CD versions and used TransMac and other burning programs recommended and as yet none will work. Oh the DVD drive is not the orginal Apple one it is a standard replacement.
I've tried booting while holding the 'C' button and used other various key combinations but as yet nothing.
Can anybody help me out here, as I said if I can get this thing running and I like it I will be buying a new Mac with the legal OSX.
