adjusting preview default settings for PDF

I have done some research but can not find an answer to the following -

"how do I adjust the default preview of a PDF?"

I can adjust the frame size -
but I want the pdf view size to fit the screen in the same manner as the "automatically resize ⇧⌘R" will once the document is opened.

currently the pdf's open so that only a portion of the pdf is visible and the sidebar is open...
