imovie grayed out extract audio

In imovie hd6.0.3, I want to extract audio from a video clip, but when I go to Advanced, all options, including Extract Audio, are grayed-out. Can anyone tell me how to get past this problem?

Is the clip in the Timeline or just in the Clip Viewer?
