As long as your friends did not "password" protect or did not allow downloading when they posted the pictures.
You probably will not be able to bring them into iPhoto directly, it might be a two step process i.e. download the photos to your computer and then import them into iPhoto.

If your friend enabled it, there is a "download" button on his MM gallery that will download a full-resolution, full-size copy of the photo -- which you can then put in iPhoto.
Otherwise, you'll just be getting a very crappy, web-rez version that you probably don't really want.
