Apple seem to be in he lucky position of struggling to meet demand, rather than struggling to to shift inventory.

Maybe why they quote sales figures rather than units shipped

Of cause. Most IT companies with low sales figures like to quote units shipped figures. Cause they are usually large numbers. And you have to guess how many were actually sold. Apple on the other hand just stick with the units sold figure. Cause for them they are the impressive numbers for Apple.

It's all about spinning the figures to what looks good for your company.
