USB not recognized

Hi there

I have a MacBook Pro, 2009, and just bought a 8 GB memory stick, but when I insert it into my Mac, it does not show up. Not in Disk Utility either.

I've tried restarting, and the port works for other devices.

Anybody know how to fix this, or a program to help?

It's possible that it's defective. Return it and get another. If the new one is giving you the same problem, post back.
