HELP!! Photoshop/Editor questions!

Ok, I'm new to this forum and new to using a Mac. I have hand drawn pictures that i would like to upload on my computer and edit and add graphics/effects to using a software program for mac. The Adobe programs are too expensive and I dont really want to CREATE anything, just edit existing images and drawings. Does anyone have any suggestions of some good programs?? PLEASE HELP! :\

Check out Pixelmator. GIMP is more than a bit rough around the edges - but for the price (free), it's hard to beat. Pixelmator is fairly inexpensive (around $69 depending on promotions) and available through the Mac App Store.
