Originally, I wanted the $350 refurb Ipad 1. However, I waited too long and it sold out--my next best options are the ipad 1 16GB with 3G refurb. How helpful is the 3G connectivity option? I am assuming that you can switch it from wifi to 3G, correct? I am still leaning towards the ipod 2 sans 3G since I dont want to pay $ each month for internet, even though at times I think it would be nice...

It might sound odd, but the gyroscope of the ipad 2 is what I think could be the best feature. What do you think the ipad 2 can do with the gyroscope? Do you think the ipad 2 for $500 is better than the ipad 1 with 3G for $480 (refurb). I dont think I need more than 16GB hard drive...how many MB is the average ipad game?

Keep checking the Apple refurb store for the 16gig WiFi iPad 1 for $349. Inventory can change by the day or the hour. I think I checked on:

- Saturday...and the $349 model was sold out
- Sunday...it was back in stock
- Monday (today)...out of stock again

Keep checking...when you see it...order ASAP!!!:)

You can switch between WIFI and 3G at anytime. There is a spot in settings to control the 3G radio.

If you get a 3G model there is no contract on the service. You can turn on and off at will and only pay when you need it. It is also done from the iPad, so it is pretty simple. The 3G option will likely help your resale value down the road.

Games vary by size based on complexity. For example, Angry Birds is 21mb and Need for Speed is close to 400mb.

Do you think the $350 will be back on the refurb list, or do you think now that its gone, its gone for good?

how would they get the refurb back for sale that the 1G isnt really sold now?

It will be back. You just need to check all the time and when you see it grab it up. There are probably millions of iPad 1's out there, so they will be around for a while. Heck, my Target store alone has probably 2 dozen iPad 1's for sale right now.

It's really hard to know exactly when Apple will be 100% out of 1st. gen. refurbished iPads. You never know...they might find some "stashed" in a corner somewhere...you just got to keep looking.:)

I know that the refurbished WiFi 16gig iPad 1's are $349...but if you really want one...is getting a new one for $399 impossible? I know that there's plenty of those available. For example:

iPad | Buy the Apple iPad previous models from $399

I would say keep looking at the Apple online store for about another week or two (check often). If no more WiFi 16gig refurbished iPads show up...then the supply may have dried up.

Good luck,

I know its arbitrary, but I would pay $350 for the old one, not $400 where I can get a new ipad 2 for $100 more...

I actually got the original iPad yesterday, i just picked up the 16GB model because I wanted to test out the device out in hope it would be worth it. I have been surprised it's pretty cool and easy to use, next year I'll buy the iPad 3. iPad 2 is cool but a few things missing still. Plus I have an iPhone 4 for FaceTime.

Its interesting that they are getting refurb models of the first gen in now.

Refurbished is supposed to be damaged stock they have repaired so what are all these refurbished 1st gens?

Is it just stock they haven't sold out of the 1st gens?

The only thing I would be wary of on the smaller models is the software takes up 3 gigs so on my 32 gig Ipad I only have space for 29 gig.

I check it many times a day, and they had a ton of Mini's yesterday. I just picked up a new model 2.4 a couple of weeks ago.

Holy moly! your stuff is expensive!! $840USD for a Mac mini!!

HAHA dont get me started on the "Why does  charge us so much more when the Aust $ is so strong against the US $" Debate

It is ludicrous :(
