Disk Utility with Installer Disc vs Disc Utility via Booted OS

Over the weekend, I used the Disk Utility from a booted 10.6 MBP and repartitioned my single HD on the fly to two partitions. I then took an image copy of the 1st partition and saved it to my 2nd partition.

I was curious since this image copy was executed while the OS was booted to the desktop, whether that image would be the same as if I had booted from the installer disc and ran the disk utility from there.
