Nevermind the question, I found the answer by googling it. . . Not surprisingly, the answer was in a mac forum thread :). However, I'm still curious if there is any place that explains the symbols that may appear on my iPhone. Thanks, Mel

My new verizon iPhone 4 has a symbol at the top right of the screen, near the battery & % battery left (to the right of the time). It is a picture of a lock with an arrow making a circle around it. Does anyone know what that means? Also, is there a place where I can find this type of information (in case more symbols appear)? I tried to find it in the iPhone user guide (iBook download) & on the Apple website, but couldn't find anything describing the meaning of symbols.

Thanks,
Mel

just to give a clear answer for the next person who has this issue. the lock with the arrow circling it, is the orientation lock. you can enable/disable by double tapping the home button and scrolling to the left. right next to the ipod controls is the lock/unlock button. sweet. I hope I answered this well.

Thanks to both of you who responded!

Sure enough, the answer was in the users guide on the pages you indicated.

Also, good idea to post the actual answer to my dilemma in case someone else also has the same issue.

Thanks again,

Mel

I just did it the easy way and posted the link because I don't have a clue what all those status icons are for. And don't really care either as long as my phone is doing what it's suppose to. ;D
