Dock is pushing applications off the side of the screen?

My dock is pushing all my applications slightly off the edge of the screen. If I drag the app back to where it's touching the side of the screen, it fixes it, but only until I close and re-open the app, then it is back to being pushed slightly off the edge of the screen. If I move the place of my dock, than the problem happens where I move the dock. If I put it on the bottom, it happens there. If I put it on the right of the screen, it happens there. Does anyone know anything I can do to fix it? It does this with all applications, not just Firefox.

Here is a screen cap. Look at the left edge of the pic.

Not sure why Apple made it that way, but it isn't changeable :(
It seems that that area is where the dock senses the pointer and comes out of hiding.

The obvious solution is to allow more of the Desktop to show behind the open window, then move it over a bit. OS X is not set up to be full screen.

That sucks. I like fullscreen. So there's nothing I can do anywhere, like some terminal command or something?

Mine certainly does the same thing. I've only noticed it when I have a large spreadsheet open and I drag it nearly to full screen. I avoid that, 'cause I don't like anything taking up the whole screen.
