I have an iMac running OSX 10.6.6. I also purchased an external hard drive in order to use Time Machine to back things up. My question is simple. How do I know it is backing everything up, even my photos that I have on iPhoto? I'm not quite sure what all is being backed up. Email? Photos? Music? Applications? etc. Thanks in advance for any comments or help!

It will back absolutely everything up, so that if the drastic happens and you have to re-install the OS or get a new internal drive then you can restore from your time machine!

Time Machine will back up everything unless you specifically exclude items that you don't want it to backup. There are some excellent tutorials available about Time Machine that you might wish to glance over.
