Hey guys, I've been beating my brains out trying to figure this out. I have a "Mobile Me" account from when I got my iPad and set up a mobile me account for find my iPad. For some weird reason, when i try to sign into Mobile Me from my iMac applications it won't recognize my password. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? It works when I go online for "Find My iPad"

Two things:

1. In the screen shot, you are not signing in with your MobileMe email address (which would end with "@me.com".

2. Did you pay? MobileMe isn't free. It costs $119 a year (Amazon sometimes has it for less).

I thought MobileMe was free if you bought an iPad. At least they made it sound that way. When I got my iPad, I set it up to "Find my iPad" and it still works to this day. I can still go to "me.com" and sign in to locate my iPad. This is very confusing. I just clicked on your link to "MobileMe" and signed in with my Apple ID.....No Problem. I indeed do have a Mobile Me account. When I signed up, they asked for my email address and I use that as my name.....not "[email protected]"

No, mobileme is not free with an iPad.

You only get the Find my iPad/iPhone service. It does not entitle you to the balance of the mobileme services.

Well, they said it was, and I haven't paid anything.

It's also why you can"t log in to mobileme service on your computer.

Or have a mobileme email address

Or mobileme email service

Or 20GB free cloud storage

Or free access to uploading content to a free mobileme website.

Sorry, but whomever "they" are, "they” were wrong.

Edit: A full mobileme account, you would have set up an @me.com account during the signup process. Without this currently, you'll not have access to the balance of the services that mobileme provides. Who knows whats happening to this with the reported MM5 announcement coming in April.

I agree with you, but that still doesn't explain why I can log into my mobile me account online, but not on my Mac

If you couldn't log in online, you wouldn't have a way to use the 'Find my iPad/iPhone' feature.

The log in you're trying to use on your Mac only works with the full (paid for) MobileMe account and has nothing to do with the 'Find my iPhone' feature. That particular feature is only accessible via the online login - even for those that pay for MobileMe.

You don't have MobileMe. You have a free Find My iPad account, it's not the same. You can log in online to find your iPad, but it's not MobileMe.

You misunderstood the sales person.
