Snow Leopard - Speech Recognition - Speech

My speech recognition recognises my voice in the calibrate but wont work when i'm in the main thing, i have it set to press a key first, and keyword, but it only gets a one blue bar no matter how close to the mic I go. it appears to be working because the arrows that move inwards show its listening but as i said it will only detect one blue bar when i move close to the mic but works even with the mic turned down in calibrate where it flashes if it can hear you voice.

How do i solve this?

Im still here with the same problem, still not working, any ideas, I have had all software updates and still no fix? the mic is fine on skype and the calibration for speech can reach the greens and red for the speech calibration, just stays at one bar when in use.

Any ideas?
