Can someone recommend an easy to use app to draw on a screen shot? I tried Skitch, but it involves uploading the image after you draw on it. I want to just draw on it and email or post it.

Use the Drag Me at the bottom of the Skitch window instead of the Share button.

If you're just looking to do basic drawing (simple shapes and text), you can use Preview. When in Preview, go to Tools > Annotate.

Try Jing. I like it much better than Skitch and you can easily save to disk.

If you need something more full featured, you can't beat SnagIt.

Hey, great advice guys as usual. I'll do some playing around and see which one I like. Thanks much

Someone already suggested Preview, but take a look at it first -- it's free, it's already on your machine, and the annotation tools are easy and more than most people need anyway!

bobtomay hit it. Skitch has a drag an drop tab at the bottom. With its built in upload features, and the ability to just run it out of your menu bar, I don't see why Skitch couldn't get your work done.

I found preview, but it doesn't work. Nothing happens when I click on it. I guess I'll be using Skitch

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Double click on the screenshot and it will open with preview..... in fact, double click on any image and it will.
You can also open preview, and go to the menu, file, open....and select the file.
You can also put preview on your dock, drag an image onto the dock icon, release it, and preview will open it. :)

Preview doesn't work or the annotation doesn't work? It's annotated everything I've thrown at it. If Preview itself doesn't work, do you get an error or crash log?

I did get preview to open now, but I can't figure out how to draw on it. I found arrows.

Go to Tools > Annotate. Select the option in the resulting menu that you need. Then, simply draw on the document/picture.
