Hello, i have an infinity symbol that i am working on in illustrator and its basically comprised of 2 segments that i lined up to look like one smooth piece. Everything looks great but when i do a gradient, the system knows it's 2 pieces and the gradient doesn't not look smooth. How can i make the lines one continuous lines to make the gradient work.. basically how to join two segments into one. Please see the pic for an example.. The lines are connected perfectly, Thanks, im just getting started at illus.

the black, horizontal line in the pic where black & green meet is the juntion of the 2 pieces. I need to remove that line and join the two pieces as one...
