He told me that he didn't care anymore about revolutionizing society, and that he didn't believe changes in technology could solve the most important problems we face. The future of the Web was in the hands of big corporations, he said. This was where the money was going to be made. This was where NeXT was pitching its products.
I believe he cares now - look at the iMac, MacBook, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Society goes nuts for these things. Now, as for technology solving problems…hmm…

So in a way, technology has solved a few problems (or is on its way to solving those problems).
If you ask me, I think Steve has changed his attitude about the computing industry these days - he came back to a company he founded. He's back in his "zone".
In a nutshell, I'd say Steve was spot on when it came to the future of the web.
