Why is my benchmark at 5% of what it should be?

I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2008) Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8 GHz (2 cores). According to Mac Benchmarks my benchmark should be 3739. According to Xbench my benchmark is 123.67. I hope I am comparing the right numbers and not looking like an idiot. Here is my test results:

Am I dumb or is this horrible? If this can be fixed please let me know. If the program I am using is crap let me know that too. Please don't flame. It's not my fault I don't know this stuff.

And ignore the highlighted line in the image. I forgot to unclick when taking the screen.

Don't compare your machine to benchmarks. Not only are there different conditions under which the tests were run but they don't really tell you much about how the machine actually runs. My machine runs lower than others with similar specs but it runs perfectly fine. I'd suggest that unless you experience some major performance issues, you ignore any benchmark values.

Well I'm not sure how to say this...but you're not comparing "Apples to Apples"!!!

The link you provided has benchmark scores for "Geekbench"...and you're comparing those results to "Xbench".

These are two completely different benchmarking programs...and the numbers are not comparable. If you want to compare things properly...download "Geekbench"...run it...then compare this value against the values in the "Geekbench" link.

HTH,:)

Oh, how did I miss that!? That may be a legitimate reason for the disparity. ;)

I like that, let's go with that. Sounds much better than stating that I'm simply absent-minded. ;)

Honestly...I had to read the OP's post at least 2 times...if not 3...before it dawned on me that the benchmark results being compared were from two different programs.

So it's not just me then. Phew! I guess this shows how little I pay attention to benchmark software.
