How do I re-set/clean my computer by creating a new partition in disk utility?

Hi guys,

I was having problems with my 13inch macbook pro (new) so I took it to the Apple store and he said it was a software issue and to create a new partition, give it a name and this will completely restore my macbook to new.
Whenever I go to disk-utility and then 'partition', I can't select anything to create a new one because it's all frozen out. Am I missing something here?
Thanks!

Natalia

All that does is create even more work.

I'm not sure what the Apple guy is suggesting, but to re-partition your MacBook's HDD, you will have to boot from your grey install discs, and use Disc Utility from there.
