Is it ok to leave my PB on overnight with just the screensaver on?/without putting it to sleep?

Or is it better to let it sleep at night (that sounds funny)?

I would say let it sleep... since your not using it there is no need for it to be on... the heat will build up any way even if you are not using it... so i am going to have to strongly recoment you put it to sleep.

it doesnt matter IMO i leave mine on all the time with the screen off at night, normally because im downloading.

it also means that the maintinance scripts will run themselves

..Except to run the daily maintenance scripts. ;)
Sure, you can get Cocktail or MacJanitor to do it, but it is not going to harm anything by leaving it on.
If you have a screensaver running that's fine, or you can just dim down the display. There are also plenty of "blank" screensavers that would do just fine.
Heat should not be an issue of concern here.
