I'm about to purchase a new iPod, and so I'm also trying to update my iTunes to go with it. However, I'm having some issues in that the download does not complete in the allotted time. Although the "download" part is easily completed, once the program starts the "installing" portion of the download, everything seems to stop. There is nothing physically wrong with the program, other than that the green status bar doesn't move at all...

Recently, I've realized that it might be worth trying again after disabling my virus protection, but I haven't had a chance to test this because I don't have the necessary internet connection at home, and I haven't had a chance to go to the library recently. Do you think this would work? Do you have any other suggestions?

If nothing else works, I guess I'll just have to download iTunes off of the site all over again. If I do this, will the new (v10) replace the old (v7), or will i have to manually uninstall, install, and then recreate my iTunes library?

Sorry if these are lame questions, but I honestly don't know what to do :\

Which OS do you have now? You'll need 10.5 or later for sure.

Another suggestion, as weird as it sounds, is to delete all of your temporary Internet files and try downloading the iTunes file again. I had a similar problem and that was one of the suggestions I found after quite a bit of digging in the Inter-web. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound like it makes any sense, but it worked for me!

"I'm just sayin'..."
