I've added a 1T external HD to my iMac and use it for Time Machine backup.

I'm now considering using a program called SuperDuper which makes a clone or image of your HD. I want to partition my 1T drive into two 500 GB sections, one for the Time Machine backup and the other for SuperDuper backup.

Using the Disk Utility partition option, I'm not certain if I should choose 1 or 2 portions - not sure if they consider that the disk already has one portion on it so I would only need to add one more.

Appreciate any suggestions - Thanks

Your Mac's Specs
21.5 iMac 3.06 ghz 12gb ram 500g HD iPad 2 16G
Choosing 1 will split the drive..you can then size each partition.
