Ok so my IPod touch (4th Gen) fell from my lap onto the metal bench I was sitting on (grand total of 20cm) and now there is a massive spider web crack spreading out from one corner.
Apart from the obvious there is nothing wrong with the IPod ...it still splays music...I can still press buttons on the screen (even over the cracks) and there or no dents or scuffs apart from the cracked screen.
I had initially assumed that this would be a simple fix and would just be a matter of replacing the glass but after reading around I am not sure if this is the case. Could the whole screen have to be replaced?
I had dropped my IPod before from standing height, face down onto a stone floor and it had not a scratch. I just can't believe that after that it could break so easily. My boyfriend tells me that the vibrations of the metal bench possibly caused the glass to shatter...but I think this is a questionable design fault regardless.
Can anyone give any indication to how much i can expect a repair to cost?
