Toast freezes while encoding movie

My imac is having problem with Roxio toast titanium,it freezes when i try to encode any video or download movies,I tried to burn Music Cds and Data apps and burns OK,It only happens when i try to encode any movie,I tried many things and can't be dirty lens cause it actually burns music,the process freezes at 1 or 2 % of the encode,can anybody help on this please

does it matter whats format,avi,mkv,mp4 all formats fail and freeze at the beginning and i have to force to quit the app

have you updated toast through the website to the latest version? mine was a bit buggy before i updated it.

I would verify permissions in Disk Utility for a start. I have known it to fix Toast issue's before.

I have the latest version and I ran permissions on disk utility but still doesnt start encoding.. How do u verify permissions?

Boot to your install disc and run disk utility from there. Highlight the HD and then on the right you will see a button that says "verify permissions" click that and then repair when it has run through.
Restart and try again.

I tried to make a dvd copy through disk image and didn't do it,Got stocked ..is it possible that my dvd lenses are dirty? but at the same time I can burn apps and music but not video?
Any way to clean my dvd? where can I buy a dvd cleaner?

Yes that could definitely be the issue.
Any good music store sells CD based lens cleaners, though some people don't like them, I have had no issues with them personally, just get a good one, not a Poundland cheapy!
Blowing compressed air into the drive is another way to try and clean the lens, not sure to work though.
Ultimately it could be the drive on it's way to the grave, in which case your best option is to buy an external burner.

i reckon this is the best option. the other methods could be more hit and miss. see if you can borrow one of somebody, before you buy one though.
