I have two sets of 2.1 Logitechs and they're pretty darn good. Inexpensive, too.

BOSE Companion 2

Hi,
I live in one of thoes 'assisted' living facility. So, space and simpliciy are
very relevant. I had some Logiitech z-250. they were great, no complaints,
but, BOSE is 'primo' and few wires!

The bose are very nice - but since they're bose they are also pricey...

I like the JBL encounter speakers myself...

Klipsh are very nice but also quite expensive. I like some of the Mid priced Logitechs my self but for the price the JBL's are nice.

I just recently bought the Logitech Z-5300. Got them from Circuit City for $129 (they were on sale online, bought them online, picked them up in store).

5.1 surround, great sub, they sound EXCELLENT.

Bose is over priced and the sound quality really isnt that great. the only thing that makes bose sound good is the big bass people think wow but after a while of listening to any bose product you being to realize hey my sound lacks midrange and really is just all bass.

I've Harmon Kardon Soundsticks... it's only a 40W system, but it plays better than my dad's 80W JBL system, better quality and volume. They are expensive, but if you want good quality, and also some super sexy looking speakers next to your mac then the Soundsticks are for you.

lol.

If you want an insane two speaker set up look at the Behringer B2031A, I use them in my studio.
