I have had my Macbook Pro for about a year and a half. It has been the best. I use it daily for school work and other personal things. Mostly browsing the web and doing assignments. Im beginning to notice it is running a little slower and not as smooth as it once did. I go on a lot of different websites all day with pop ups that come up. Im thinking that might have something to do with it? I dont really have any extra things downloaded, so I dont think its because of memory or anything. I just have a bunch of pictures and songs. I was wondering. If I restore the computer to factory setting and clear everything to the way it was when I first used it, will it be functioning the same way as it did brand new. Thanks!

Very rarely if ever, is it necessary to reinstall the operating system. In fact, you may run into more problems by doing so.

Try downloading the free OnyX maintenance and cleanup program and run it in automatic mode. Read instructions for using it first.

Do you have your pop up blocker turned on in your web browser? You didn't mention what kind of pop ups you were getting but most can be prevented by the web browser pop up blocker.

I was gonna suggest the same thing. I had my MBP for 4 years before I discovered this little jewel. When I installed it an ran all the clean-up utilities my boot time went from just over 90 seconds to 30 seconds, and all my applications were much zippier.

Considering you can download it for free from the Apple site, I'm surprised it doesn't come preinstalled on the computer.
