Hi guys!

I'm a long time pc user since birth. It's been a long time since I want to switch over to the other side.

This will be the first time I'll be buying a MBP and I'm having a dilemma which one to choose. My usage is mainly wordprocessing, spreadsheets, a little light gaming, web browsing and downloading and photoediting. I believe that the 13in MBP would do due to it's portablity (I don't want to lug around a heavy laptop since I have a lot of camera equipment as it is to carry with me).

My problem is since the 2011 MBP recently came out I'm now torn between the 2010 and 2011 model. The 2011 model has an i5 processor but an intel GP. I don't know if the intel GP could perform lie the nvidia GP on the 2010 model.

Can you please help me out? This will be my first mac ever so i just want to make it right. TIA

buy the 2011 version. the new offering has a better CPU, slightly worse graphics (nothing noticeable) HD Facetime camera. also: the new thunderbolt I/O.

the geekbench scores for the new pros almost DOUBLED the 2010 version.

my current MBP score : 3380, the new equivalent: 7596

+1 for buying the new 13" MBP. As pointed out, it's faster and has the new Thunderbolt I/O. If you're into any kind of gaming and expect decent results graphic wise with the game, you shouldn't be buying either one. The more expensive and faster MBP 15" model is better suited for gaming.

You might save a small amount but you would be kicking yourself if you bought the 2010 version :)

thanks for the replies guys.

i guess i just have to wait for now. the 2011 mbp still not available in Philippine retail stores! Hassel!!! I've waited for years to get a MBP then the 2011 model came out and i have to wait again for another week or two to finally have one! sigh!!!!

on a different note... any news when the OS Lion come out? I'm now beginning to think to wait again till the 2011 MBP comes with the OS Lion. Sigh... what a dilemma i'm into!!!

I definitely don't see any good reason to wait for Lion. Get your MBP - when the one you want is available - and you can upgrade the OS later, should you choose to.
