Hello,

Recently my macbook has been running slow so I did a SMART Utility scan and it came up as FAILING.

Specifically, highlighted in red are Reallocated Sector Count (Pre-fail) and Reallocated Event Count (old age).

I suppose this is bad news, but how bad?

Any advice?

Many thanks

It is critical as SMARTReporter never fails. Back up to your external HD using a cloning utility and get a new HDD asap.

"Reallocated Sector Count (Pre-fail)" seems to be a normal thing with all SSDs. SSDs have blocks failing all the time, this is the nature of SSDs. That's why the Smart Utility is confused. I recommend using Smart Reporter and Raid Monitor instead since it doesn't give the "reallocated sector count" warnings which are obviously often just false positives in SSDs..
