'Consumer Reports' Smacks Verizon iPhone Over Antenna Issues - Mac Rumors

I am starting to get seriously irritated with Consumer Reports, as of lately. I haven't had a dropped call in...I don't even know, and I have at&t. I have a bunch of friends who also have iphone's, from all gens, and they are the same way. I also stopped using the otter case, and using it with no case.

They blamed it on At&t's weak signals last time, so they're gonna blame verizon this time?

Even their car reports change all the time, even on the same model year, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. So, where's the credibility?

Something's fishy...

I quit paying attention to Consumer Reports maybe 30 years ago after I read a bunch of reviews and ratings on equipment and material used in my trade. Every single one of them were wrong. They didn't get a single report written by someone with experience in the field. They went and grabbed Mrs. Joe Blow off the street that had never used any of the products before and then had them write their impressions. It was all a waste of breath.

Same here. I used to faithfully read Consumer Reports especially when they did their annual auto special. Most of the testing they do is not real world - although they claim it is. Lately they've been desperate to sell subscriptions. I get their junk mail all the time.

Consumer Reports used to be first class a long time ago, on certain types of items.

I'd suggest those working there should look over their own magazine from times long past.

I had my iphone 4 for 6 months, no cover/case, live in Ireland, never a dropped call, signal issue, nothing in fact, works great every time, all the time, like every Apple product I own.

C.R. lost their credibility with me years ago with Hi-Fi gear which they obviously know nothing about.

I've lost a lot of faith in CR over the years as well. You can see it just in their ratings for used cars which change every year. At any rate I had a dropped call right after I got the phone but since then nary a one unless it was operator error.

CR is full of baloney. I mean ten years ago they were alright…to a degree. Today? Sorry, but your junk mail is shredded.

I'd almost like to think Consumer Reports is just riding on the iPhone wave just to get their name out there. I know I only read about Apple news and their reviews might reach out further into non-Apple news, but it seems they only make the headlines, when they are critical of Apple products.

In all honestly I thought their small WaveRadio sounded pretty decent till I heard the Cambridge Sound-Works 740 and thats what I bought.

I'm no CR fan, but note that they DO have some sort of fancy reception testing facility. A shielded room. Not as fancy as that wild one Apple built, of course.
