The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022).

I just got this error and my DVD just ejected. I've been having problems with my disc drive lately, does this mean its time to install a new disc drive?

Try cleaning it first with canned air. Blow inside the drive a few times with the compressed air, perhaps the lens is just dirty. If that doesn't work, you may be looking at replacing the drive. You didn't tell us which model Mac you have, however, replacement drives are available from several on line resellers.

Pioneer seem about the best and you will find a Firewire drive to be much faster.
