Hi,

I have recently purchased iLife 11. However, when I go to install the package an error message pops up saying: "Your computer doesn't have enough memory for iLife. i Life requires at least 1GB of RAM". However, I have not opened any other applications during this boot and cannot see why I haven't got enough RAM. I am running Leopard on an iMac. How would I go about resolving this issue (preferably for free)?

I have attached the Activity Monitor Window when I tried to install it

Thanks in advance!

Could you post your model of iMac, CPU speed and year released?
Will help in diagnosing the problem.
However it does just sound like you need to install more RAM, how much have you got installed?

Cheers

According to your screenshot, you only have 512MB of RAM installed, so that is your problem. You need to install more RAM.

HA, my eyes are not good enough to see that ;)
If you post the details as I stated above then we can tell you how much you can install, or head over to Crucial and run the system scanner.

As I have stated a couple of times, if you could provide details of your mac then we can assist in helping with upgrades, or go to Crucial and run the system scanner.

You have the late 2006 17-inch white iMac, model number MA710LL. Here are the specs (from Apple):
iMac (Late 2006) - Technical Specifications

Your iMac has two SODIMM slots which can accommodate a maximum of up to 2GB of RAM.

You can upgrade to the full 2GB with this kit for $44:
2.0GB Matched Pair (1.0GB x 2 Kit) PC5300... (53DR2SPAIR2G) at OWC

Here is a video which will show you how to install this new RAM in your Mac:

You can download a manual, in PDF format, that will show you how to install your new RAM here:
