Ok, so I wanted to change the name of the home directory user. I followed the Apple support and enabled the root user. My system now seems to have started a fresh and all my old files are now in a single folder on the hard disk. Is there any way to return back to the old user?

Also my ipod now says it is synced with another user on the computer however there are no other users. I HAVE DISABLED ROOT USER.

Please help.

It should have worked if you followed the Apple KB instructions. LINK I think you may have gone astray somewhere when you logged on as ROOT. ??
