MacBook Pro 15' core i5 - Hanging

i bought this computer last december. this is 2 month old computer. it already hang up 3 times since i bought it. twice when turning it on and once when i tried to shut it down. i did a force shutdown to get it back up and running again.. any thoughts on this one?

Is it up to date with all the updates?

yes it is updated

Usually a Repair Disk Permissions will clear up apps and programs running abnormally
have you done this?

no. i dont know how. this is my first mac.

Click on application folder the select Utilities Folder the click on Disk Utility then select Macintosh HD on the left column then in the right column at the bottom select Repair Disk
Permissions usually takes a couple of minutes depending on how much stuff you have.
