Trying to convert old analog video by using Canon Elura 2 MC as a pass through converter. I can get any videos played on the Canon into my imac easily, no firewire problems. But the minute I try to use it as a pass-through the Canon recognizes the firewire as "DV IN" and is not feeding the signal to the computer. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that it does pass through? This page mentions recording on the camera from an analogue input, but no mention of pass through.

Pass-through?
The manual does not mention pass-thru capability either but it is somewhat implied. It accepts analog via A/V input and has firewire output. It certainly converts it when you record on the Canon from another video source.
And when the source tape is a digital tape in the Canon it performs well with Final Cut Express. It's when you try to make a chain that things fall apart.

It may appear to imply it, but I think that if you read it again, it talks about recording from an A/V source onto a tape in the camcorder, but doesn't actually mention a pass through capability.
