Yup, that's right... two more towers added to the line up... FOR FREE!!

First one is a 1GHz Dual MDD, which is my main Mac now, and a 1.25GHz MDD 2003 with a dead power supply.

It's amazing how much quicker this 1.0 DP MDD is compared to my 1.42 eMac.

1.25 on the left, 1.0 DP on the right.

I have a friend that works at a warehouse that deals with off-lease computers.

He emailed me this morning and said "Hey, I have 2 Mac towers here that have a shiny front and 4 holes, you want them? The one passed testing 100% and the other is dead."

I asked him if he knew the specs at all and he said "Just come and get them if you want them, if not we are tossing them in the recycling pile."

So I went and got them only to find out the one was a 100% working 1.0 DP, and the other a dead 1.25 MDD 2003.

Best part is he said he will email me anytime they get Macs in because most of the Macs are either tossed in the recycling pile or parted out.

Pretty awesome having a friend in that sort of position.

Congrats again,:)

Yeah, it's great, too bad I didn't find out earlier... he actually had 3 1.8 Dual G5 towers that were recycled. All 3 worked, too.

If the 1GHZ has a 167MHz system bus speed, you will be able to swap the processors out of the 1.25 which will give a 25% speed hump. Don't try it if the 1GHz has a 133MHz system bus speed however. You can access this information in the About this Mac profiler.

Both of them are 167Mhz. However the 1.0 is a Dual and the 1.25 is a single, and the Dual is far quicker in speed tests. If it was a Dual 1.25, it would already be installed in the working tower.

Pretty rare to find a single 1.25 as the majority were dual processors and yes Geekbenk shows the dual 1GHz art 873 compared to a score of 705 to the 1.25 single. Now for a 1.42FGz DP to pop in eh? Your other thread mentions this.
