Have a few questions about ibook g3's.

1. anyone know a good place to buy more memory(256mb more)

2. Do U need a firmware update before you can upgrade to OS X.2
(500mhz model)

3.Is it better to install X.1 or X.2(in terms of overall laptop speed)

I'll address number three. I'd suggest at least 10.3, just because it's pretty much current as far as supporting the latest technology. I'd steer clear of 10.2 because it has some known bugs, like disappearing icons and drag/drop malfunctions.

1. www.newegg.com

2. No, you do not need to do a firmware update if you have one of the white iBooks. If you have one of the colored ones, then you will. Check out the Firmware Update Page on Apple's site.

3. Each release of OS X has given increased speed and performance to older machines. Install the highest version of OS X that you can.
