• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi guys.
Just wondering if anyone knows of software for the Mac that will allow me to select sections of a movie (MKV format) and capture screenshots at full 1080P resolution, without actually playing the movie?
I have done that, but screen capture doesn't really give a full res image.
I know this can be done in Windows, using FFDshow and the like, but just curious if anyone knows of anything.
Googling hasn't bought much luck.
Out of interest my iMac will not show full HD.
Ta.

i was thinking about this, and was wondering if you had final cut pro.

a workaround would be that you could create a freezeframe and export the image as a Still image format, to convert to jpg, png or whatever.

ive never done it, but maybe you could look into it. :)
