Internal sata hard drive

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could help me...

I have a older macbook pro, build 10f569, and I am upgrading my internal hard drive.

I am going to buy a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB Sata 8MB Cache 2.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive OEM.

Can anyone confirm that this will fit? as I think it may be a bit to large?

If your machine is a MacBook Pro then the 2.5" SATA drive will fit. The only 2.5" drives that do not fit properly are those which are 1 GB and larger as they are too thick. You machine takes a 2.5" drive of 9.5 MM in thickness. The 500 GB drive will work OK.

Hi, I am recieving the following error message when I insert my new hard drive into a caddy, in preperation to clone my existing one.



Do I need to format it? Does anyone know how to do this?

Open up Disk Utility in Applications - Utilities.

Select the drive, head for the partition tab - name the drive and format it.
